Provide support to the team during breaks and absences and work together to ensure completion of their duties

Carry out work assignments issued by Lead engineer and maximize effectiveness of the shift at all times by ensuring efficient completion of tasks
Ensure remedial works to equipment raised by work order or PM's are highlighted to the Lead engineer

Principal purpose of job: To carry out general production related duties to support the needs of the business
Packing - Shuffle product into stacks that are suitable to pack, keep work area clean and tidy, count tortillas. Use equipment used in the packing process, metal detect packages, complete QA paperwork, pack and count product, ensure that the correct labelling/coding is used on each product, palletize the product. Liaison with the Logistics department. Accurate recording of waste. Communication with the Team Leader.
Process - Be familiar with the product/recipes, liaise with logistics, assist with product mixes, liaise with the Quality Assurance department, complete QA paperwork, record waste, label all containers according to formula, line, time, etc., follow all the procedures in place, help cover other positions as necessary
Quality - Check that each product is within specification, check size, weight, shape, taste of product is acceptable. Use specialized equipment to check packaging seals, water activity of the product. Communicate with Team Leader and Quality Assurance if specifications are not met.
To be responsible for the effective operation of equipment as trained within the factory. Controlling, monitoring, adjusting and maintaining the equipment to ensure the best possible quality product is produced at the lowest cost all times while protecting consumer safety in designated work area.
Set up line/equipment according to process parameters set in specifications and/or work instructions.
Carry out minor maintenance duties and support maintenance team where assistance is required.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities:

- Ensure the working environment, equipment, plant and people meet with legislative and internal health and safety standards at all times.

We are currently recruiting a Shift Manager for our site in Seaham. The role will include running the operations shift, through your team, ensuring the highest possible output at the lowest achievable cost and enable delivery to meet short and long term operational targets and objectives. The Shift Manager will achieve results with his operational team while ensuring that all activities regarding the working environment, staff and the production operation are in conformance with internal and external standards.
Main tasks and responsibilities
Effectively manage the team and encourage team performance through open and effective communication. Deliver a weekly briefing to team, and produce daily and monthly management reports.
Ensure team organises materials (raw materials, packaging etc.) from warehouse and ensure teams are able to program and run the equipment and tools for each particular area
Verify and manage the overall attendance of Team (incl. labour usage against the standard) and inform Production Manager / Human resources daily of absences.
Ensure a team approach with regard to maintenance and hygiene of equipment and liaise and plan effectively with product specifications with the relevant departments
Ensure that all production activities are in conformance with the product specification, i.e. continuously manage the quality of the product and materials to comply with product specifications.
