Manage the Equipment Calibration & Verification Plan and the laboratory consumables stock control

Be actively involved in customer complaint investigations and 1st, 2nd and 3rd party audits

Assist in Mock Recalls/Traceability Exercises and carry out any other duties as instructed by the Quality Supervisor

Main tasks and responsibilities

1. Educate and direct team to support and encourage a Health & Safety culture in which the safety of the team and individuals is always the primary focus.

3. The site has a clean as you go policy and this must be maintained at all times to eliminate risk of slips, trips and falls and product contamination. Ensure individual responsibilities are met in this area.

4. Control of costs requires continuous review of product quality and operator performance in the factory to eliminate unnecessary waste.

5. Review of team skills using your knowledge of individuals and resulting training is essential for team development to enable the team to meet Kgs per planned hour target.

6. Planning and close control of shift staffing level is required to meet Kgs per man hr.

7. The team require support and encouragement from their Leaders especially at local level making your constant presence on the factory floor in close proximity to process and people an essential ingredient in nourishing team success.

8. Complete all reports accurately and in a timely manner.

9. Take the initiative in looking for improvements in process and plant to enhance performance ensuring that changes are shared for the benefit of the entire site.

10. Communication and teamwork with support functions including planning, technical and logistics is critical to performance of the manufacturing team. You must develop close working relationships with these teams ensuring clear communication at all times.

• Carry out work assignments issued by Lead engineer and maximize effectiveness of the shift at all times by ensuring efficient completion of tasks

• Provide support to the team during breaks and absences and work together to ensure completion of their duties
• Follow all work instructions, procedures, job descriptions at all times.

• Complete all necessary paper work
• Work with other functions as part of the manufacturing team to ensure efficient running of the equipment and carry out prioritized work as agreed
• Carry out the assigned activities to meet operational targets; working with other functions to ensure mutual objectives are met
• Compliance with Company policies, procedures and regulations (e.g. attendance, quality, safety, GMP's, etc.) and ensure these are followed to maintain the required standards (e.g. Food Safety, PPE etc.)
• Resolve mechanical and/or electrical problems in a timely fashion.
• Order spare parts as required on shift if unavailable from stock and contact contractors/suppliers as required in order to resolve problems on shift
• Ensure all parts removed from stores while on shift are booked out of stores in the correct way
• Where necessary, must initiate the purchase of parts or equipment completing the relevant order requisition forms with relevant information., handing them into the Lead engineer or Engineering Stores Administrator for processing
• Provide the Lead Engineer with information on all engineering downtime attended on shift,, related quality issue, work orders completed, PM's completed and other details as required.
• Identify and analyse problems before crises and determine appropriate action and follow-up
• Ensure remedial works to equipment raised by work order or PM's are highlighted to the Lead engineer
• Complete “Permit to Work' system when appropriate
• Advise teams (of Operators) on a continuous basis with regard to simple maintenance and/or continuous improvement

• To be actively involved in 1st, 2nd and 3rd party audits
• Raising Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs), and liaising with Production and NPD with regards to Supplier response.
• Close out and follow up of SCAR reports, ensuring supplier corrective action has been implemented by the supplier
• Liaise with the Technical Manager, Warehouse and Purchasing to ensure non-conforming materials are returned to the supplier as quickly as possible and corrective action implemented.
• To provide a monthly KPI report to the Buyer and Technical Manager on Supplier performance.

• Any other projects required in support of the Technical department.


Qualifications and skills required
• Degree or higher diploma in a Food science discipline
• HNC/D or Equivalent/ or previous Food Industry Experience .
• Advanced Excel practical skills including wider computer literacy

Mission Foods Coventry is looking to recruit a Brand Innovator to work closely with the UK NDP Manager and Head of UK Marketing. We are looking for truly innovative and Brand focussed individuals that can focus on fulfilling Brand Plan launch requirements and business objectives.
The primary aim of this role is Primary aim is to use understanding of Consumers, Markets, Trends, Insights, and Brands to develop quality innovative new Branded Products, which are market leading, for the business. The role encompasses certain aspects of the NPD process from concept to launch, including: blue sky innovation, commercial viability, cost reduction, costings, competitor benchmarking and consumer panel testing. Key to the role is for new and improved Branded product launches to be on budget and on time.

Main tasks and responsibilities
• Working on a number of high profile Branded initiatives for new and existing business, you will be expected to proactively create NPD activities for the Brand
• To work multi manufacturing site and multi-channel (Retail and OOH)
• To work with multi products - wraps, naan, pitta, chips, kits, flatbreads and any products via co – packers
• Working closely with various departments including, Marketing, Sales, Technical, Purchasing, and Manufacturing, as well as external suppliers and other manufactures
• Ensuring the concepts of critical paths and NPD gate system is adhered to
• Co- ordinate regular product development meetings to taste and evaluate product from within the market place
• Completion of raw material forms, gathering prices for samples and all information relating to the new products
• Attend/oversee Brand production trials and first factory production runs
• Recipe management – keeping accurate recipe information throughout the entire concept/ NPD gate system and critical path. Ensuring there is a full historical trail for each concept, product and associated shelf life testing
• Support Project Delivery Manager with customer presentations; including collation of paperwork, and sample preparation
• Liaison with Purchasing and Technical colleagues if a new supplier or material is required
• Ensure smooth progression to launch, ensuring product meets all required food safety parameters, completion and evaluation of Food Safety testing parameters, and the compilation of product specifications in required format
• Working closely with Process Team to ensure concept ideas have the required synergy within existing operational process – also to ensure new ingredients are suitable within existing process – liaising with Ingredient/Process Manager/Technical if new supplier/ingredient is required. The latter also with synergy to Project Delivery Manager to ensure information is collated info for Product Information forms for initial submissions

Qualifications and skills required
• Qualified to Degree level in either Food Science/ Food Technology or closely related subject or comparable work experience
• Brand awareness with a solid NPD background
• Marketing awareness would be very advantageous, along with a good understanding of consumers, markets and the role of Brands
• Good knowledge of product launch requirements would be useful
• Previous experience in food manufacture – chef/innovation background
• Interest in food trends
• Creativity/Innovation/Blue Sky ideas
• Good organisational and project working skills

Mission Foods Coventry is looking to recruit a Quality Assurance (QA)Supervisor to work within the Technical Department. The QA Supervisor will ensure that all members of the QA team work in a consistent manner to achieve prescribed product quality standards and encourage continuous improvement.
Main tasks and responsibilities
• Supervise, coach and mentor the QA team to give a consistent and detailed approach to QA auditing
• Effectively manage the team and encourage team performance through open and effective communication. Deliver briefs to the team as required and produce management reports
• Enforce and manage company policies, procedures and regulations (Health & Safety, Food safety, GMP's, attendance, etc.) and ensure these are
• Resolve team conflict and issue documented disciplinary actions, and ensure that team and individual effort, hard work and results are rewarded when appropriate

Maintenance Controller

Mission Foods Coventry is looking to recruit a Maintenance Controller, to supervise and direct Engineers to ensure maximum effectiveness and utilisation of Plant and Engineering resource. You will also ensure a pro-active approach to the prevention of equipment failure through Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and where required a rapid response to break down where failure occurs. Ensuring Quality, waste and efficiency targets are met by working as an integral part of the manufacturing team.
Main tasks and responsibilities
• Effectively coordinates the Engineers activities: work assignments and maximize effectiveness of the shift at all times by ensuring efficient use of each Engineer.
• Ensure a team approach with regard to maintenance and hygiene of equipment and support (teams of) operators.
• Provide support to team during breaks and absences and work together with Engineers in the completion of their duties.
• Ensure that all work instructions, procedures, job descriptions, etc. are adhered to at all times.
• Ensure that all Work Orders, PM's issued to the team are completed.
• Log all completed Work orders on the PM system.
• Work with other functions as part of the manufacturing team to ensure efficient running of the equipment and prioritize work as agreed.
• Coordinate the activities of your team to meet operational targets; working with other functions to ensure mutual objectives are met.
• Ensure compliance with Company policies, procedures and regulations (e.g. attendance, quality, safety, GMP's, etc.) and ensure these are followed to maintain the required standards (e.g. Food Safety, PPE etc.).
• Efficiently manage and facilitate teams to resolve mechanical and/or electrical problems in a timely fashion.
• Order spare parts as required on shift if unavailable from stock and contact contractors/suppliers as required in order to resolve problems.
• Ensure all parts removed from stores while on shift are booked out of stores in the correct way
• Where necessary, must initiate the purchase of parts, tools or equipment completing the relevant order requisition forms with relevant information handing them into the Engineering Stores Administrator for processing
• Where a single downtime incident is in excess of 1 hour a detailed report, explaining cause, solution, labour used and times of attendance by Engineers will be submitted.
• Identify and analyse problems together with teams before crises and determine appropriate action and follow-up.
• Ensure remedial works to equipment raised by work order or PM's are highlighted to the Engineering Manager
• Oversee weekend work schedule completion and supervise contractors while on site.
• Ensure compliance of “Permit to Work' system at weekends/nights by all employees/contractors
• Advise teams on a continuous basis with regard to simple maintenance and/or continuous improvement.

Qualifications and skills required:
• Previous food processing (automated) industry experience highly desirable
• Electrical and/or mechanical qualifications/time served apprenticeship.
• Computer skills
• A good standard of both written and oral English
• Basic Food Hygiene

• Data and analytical skills (troubleshoot)
