Main tasks and responsibilities

• Set up line/equipment according to process parameters set in specifications and/or work instructions.

• Carry out minor maintenance duties and support maintenance team where assistance is required.

• Ensure procedures are followed and all required checks are carried out accurately and at the correct time intervals.

• Liaise with other departments to ensure consistent performance of machine and products.

• Accurately complete process control paperwork in a timely manner.

• Actively manage waste levels in your area of responsibility. Do not accept waste as part of the process.

Main tasks and responsibilities

Process area:

Follow health and safety as well as the GMP procedures at all times and keep the process area clean and organised

Re-fill the mixer tables with only the necessary bredo avoiding at all time extra trolleys, pallets of bredo in the process area and or exposed blocks of bredo in the warehouse area.

Minimize the use of regrind containers to only the required ammount and keep the regrind containers labelled with the corresponding information at all times whilst keeping the regrind area clean and organised at all times.

Dispose of rubbish and cardboard appropriately and in a timely manner to prevent over filled containers, and dispose of the waste during the shift and at the end of the shift.

Be familiar with our product and recipes

Clean Room and Packing Areas:

Shuffle product into stacks that are suitable to pack, keep work area clean and tidy, count tortillas. Use equipment used in the packing process, metal detect packages, complete QA paperwork, pack and count product, ensure that the correct labeling/coding is used on each product, palletize the product. Liason with the Logistics department. Accurate recording of waste. Communication with the Team Leader.

Food Safety & Legality

The role involves ensuring swift resolution of any plant breakdowns on the site and assist the Maintenance Manager in the completion of the site PM schedule on a daily, weekly and annual basis

To ensure that all faults/ breakdowns are dealt with immediately and that any plant downtime is kept to a minimum

To work with all functions as part of the manufacturing team to ensure efficient running of the equipment and carry out prioritised work as agreed

To comply with company policies, procedures and regulations and ensure these are followed to maintain the required standards

Order spare parts as required on shift if unavailable from stock and contact contractors/ suppliers as required in order to resolve problems on shift

To ensure all parts removed from stores while on shift are booked out of stores in the correct way

Where necessary, must initiate the purchase of parts or equipment completing the relevant order requisition forms with relevant information

Provide the lead engineer with information on all engineering downtime attended on shift, related quality issue, work order completed, PM's completed and other details as required

Identify and analyse potential production loss problems before they occur and either rectify or ensure action is taken to solve at the earliest opportunity

Qualifications & Skills

We are now recruiting for a Shift Supervisor at our Seaham site to lead the production team ensuring the highest possible output at the lowest achievable cost and ensure delivery of short and long term operational KPIs in Health & Safety, Quality, Hygiene and Housekeeping, Cost and People Development.

Main tasks and responsibilities

1. Educate and direct team to support and encourage a Health & Safety culture in which the safety of the team and individuals is always the primary focus.

2. Food safety and Quality must be maintained at the highest level delivering excellence by ensuring conformance with product specification and maintenance of process control and associated documentation.

3. The site has a clean as you go policy and this must be maintained at all times to eliminate risk of slips, trips and falls and product contamination. Ensure individual responsibilities are met in this area.

4. Control of costs requires continuous review of product quality and operator performance in the factory to eliminate unnecessary waste.

5. Review of team skills using your knowledge of individuals and resulting training is essential for team development to enable the team to meet Kgs per planned hour target.

6. Planning and close control of shift staffing level is required to meet Kgs per man hr.

7. The team require support and encouragement from their Leaders especially at local level making your constant presence on the factory floor in close proximity to process and people an essential ingredient in nourishing team success.

8. Complete all reports accurately and in a timely manner.

9. Take the initiative in looking for improvements in process and plant to enhance performance ensuring that changes are shared for the benefit of the entire site.

12. Resolve conduct issues and following HR advice, issue documented disciplinary actions where appropriate

13. Manage performance with integrity and where required initiate performance management of individuals communicating clear expectations along with deadlines and support. This must be documented and advice should be sought from HR in all cases.

14. Team and individual effort, hard work and results should be recognised in an appropriately to enhance team morale and self esteem.

15. Provide cover for the Production Manager as and when required and develop willing key individuals as part of your succession plan.

You will work closely with the Production Manager and lead, manage and develop the team to deliver excellence. You will demonstrate an energetic and positive 'can do' approach to 'hands-on' management, and take ownership of the team and lead the drive towards World Class Manufacturing with Mission Foods.
